The struggle is real

Today’s post is very personal; I am sharing something I am struggling with right now. I have shared before that I have sensitive and photosensitive skin. This means I burn in the summer and winter if I don’t have sunscreen. I have been looking for a good sunscreen for a while now. I researched and found one that I fought had good online reviews, was used by other black girls and so on. So that’s when I started to develop #dermatitis on my upper lip and my forehead. I am sparring you with the gruesome details. It took me a while to find out why and what caused it. My doctor just prescribed some creams with steroids and that was it. I had to do my own digging. So it turns out my new sunscreen is the culprit. Chemical filters ☝️They work great at helping the sunscreen penetrate in your skin more easily, and even more so when exposed to sunlight. But they then accumulate in your bodies, burden the liver, and disrupt hormones, throwing off your entire endocrine system. They also exacerbate your skin and make it even more reactive. So stop 🛑 using products that contain these☝️ today! For now, I will have to find another sunscreen with mineral filters that work. Feel free to recommend any that you think I should try.
